Erosion Control

Soil erosion can occur as a result of construction, land development and agriculture. Erosion control is the process of rebuilding certain areas or installing erosion control mulch/fabrics to keep soil disturbances to a minimum.

Our highly skilled team is trained to develop the best approach for erosion control for your property. With our resources and expertise, Central Texas Hydroseed can halt the negative effects of soil erosion. Due to recent strides in our industry, we are often able to replace conventional erosion blankets with a layer of BFM mulch. This saves our clients labor and time. Our services include no-till seeding, hydromulching, application of a bonded fiber matrix and silt fencing to ensure that your property is protected against soil erosion damages.

What is erosion control?

Erosion control is the practice of preventing or controlling wind or water erosion in agriculture, land development, coastal areas, river banks and construction. Effective erosion controls handle surface runoff and are important techniques in preventing water pollution, soil loss, wildlife habitat loss and human property loss.

Inadequate drainage and erosion are common occurrences in Southern Texas. The Texas Commission on Environment Quality had identified prevention and corrective measurements necessary to prevent and eliminate such problems. The Texas Department of Transportation has defined the critical performance factors and established minimum performance standards that must be met.

Central Texas Hydroseed has the knowledge and ability to resolve erosion related issues pursuant to the State specifications and requirements.

The benefits of our erosion control services:

  • Our mulches bond directly to the soil and begin working immediately after application
  • Ideal for dormant seeding and long-term protection in many climates
  • Faster growth than rolled blankets or hydraulically applied mulches
  • Minimize soil loss and wastewater runoff
  • All of our mulches are 100% biodegradable and environmentally friendly

Central Texas Hydroseed offers a variety of erosion control mulch blends. Depending on your property, we may recommend a Fiber Matrix to be applied for further protection of your soil. Our Fiber Matrixes have been engineered with specialized mechanical or hydraulic bonding agents to prevent erosion in areas where you don’t need vegetation. Another erosion control solution we offer is Silt Fencing, a fabric made of woven polypropylene yarn that allows water to pass through but restricts sediment.

When visiting your property to develop your customized erosion control plan, our team of experts will determine whether your property requires a bonding Fiber Matrix or a Stabilized Fiber Matrix for best results.
